What we store about you

Nothing. baromoon has no accounts, no sign-ups, and no user database. Reports are computed on demand and discarded.

Your profile (birth data)

If you personalize your reports, the profile — including birth date, time, and place, which power the astrology layer — is stored only in your own browser's local storage. It is sent to our server solely to compute a report you requested, in memory, and is never written to disk, never logged, and never shared. You can export it as a file, or delete it from the profile menu at any time. If you never create one, none of this exists.

Field log (public /log)

Catch entries made from the public /log page are stored only in your browser's local storage — lake, lure, weight and notes are never sent to or stored on the server. "Export JSON" downloads them as a file; importing that file on your own machine's local /log page merges them into your private ledger. Clearing the queue removes them from the browser.

What the server sees

• Standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, page) for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Rotated routinely.
• Aggregate page counts — page path, the lake you looked at, and the external site you arrived from (host only). No IP address, no user agent, no cookies, no query string, nothing that can be joined into a session. Raw counts include bots and are used only to see which pages are read.
• Location (“waters near me”): the landing page may ask your browser for your location to pick the closest water; the pick runs entirely in your browser, from the water list already on the page. Your coordinates are never sent to us or anyone else — only the public water id that won appears in the page request. Dismiss or block the prompt and the demo water stays.
• The contents of report requests — lake, time window, and (if you send one) your profile — held in memory for the duration of the render only.

Third parties

• Weather & geocoding (Open-Meteo, OSM Nominatim): called server-side by us; your browser never talks to them directly for report data.
• Web fonts: pages load Cormorant Garamond from Google Fonts, which will see your IP and requested URL. (We plan to self-host the font to remove even this.)
• Maps: the Waters page loads map tiles from CARTO (basemaps.cartocdn.com), which sees your IP and the map area you view. Leaflet itself is self-hosted. Tiles are the only third-party request on that page.
• Retailer links: if you click a tackle link, you leave for the retailer's site and their policies apply. Affiliate links, where present, are labeled — see disclosure. Outbound clicks are counted in aggregate — entry, retailer and page section only; no IP, no user agent, no cookies.

Cookies

None. Local storage holds your profile vault at your discretion; nothing tracks you across sites.
