How do you catch bass in cold water?
Below about 50°F bass feed little and sit deep; stay in contact with the bottom and move slowly.
As a lake cools through the low-to-mid 50s, bass return to deep water, and feeding is greatly reduced below 50°F. Winter fish are slow, so the productive approach is a soft plastic that moves slowly along the bottom, fished with contact. Some winter bass suspend and will take smaller prey presented right in front of them.
baromoon's derived overwinter position state leads with bottom-oriented presentations once the water drops to about 55°F in the cold months.
